| The great west tower built in the 15th century is
all that remains of a fine medieval church. The churches first repair was
in 1791 and then the chancel was rebuilt in 1793 Richards reports in (Old Cheshire Churches published 1947) that Glynne visiting in 1832 said of the nave,"the arches lean very much so as to cause a feeling of insecurity" The body of the church was rebuilt in 1836 |

| At the end of the 19th century the building was
again declared dangerous, thought to be the result of underground
vaults, and was rebuilt in 1893. This building again began to deteriorate and as the chancel was thought to be pulling down the nave it was removed. This removal did not solve the problem so the church was taken down leaving the tower in it's lofty isolation. |
