St. Edith

Remotely placed on a lonely lane creeping down towards the River Dee lies St. Edith's. This remoteness kept Victorian restorers away and therefore it has retained it's unique charm. How to find
Turn of the A534 between Wrexham and Nantwich at Farndon and wend your way south. The church lies on the long distance footpath Marcher Way.

The interior of the church is a haven of calm and peacefulness. The church is open on Wednesday mornings between 10 and 11 and is a special place for prayer and reflection. It is a perfect place to escape from the troubles of the world for a while.

shocklachchurch stable shocklachchurchstable
At the end of the lane that leads to the church is a small stable. It is said that members of the clergy who had to ride to this remote spot would stable their horse here for the duration of the service. As can be seen if you look carefully one horse was named Moses!
