| One of the best half-timbered churches in Cheshire this
black and white building is situated on a small bank at the side of
the main road. Said to have been founded in 1343 it is believed to
be the oldest timbered church of this type in Europe.

| The church had some minor alterations in Victorian times
but apart from the chancel this church is essentially 14th century.
The most interesting part is the 14th century timber tower surrounded on 3 sides by lean-to roofs. Robert Morant - Cheshire Churches pub. 1989 This is a beautiful church and as you step inside the essence of the place fills your nostrils with old polished wood and love. |

| At the front of the church is a medieval doom painting that was only discovered in the 1930's under a false facade of plaster. On each side of the church are 18th century painting of Moses and Aaron with the Ten Commandments by a Knutsford painter, E.Penney. | ||
